Knorex Joins iDA's ELITe+ Meet-The-Mentor Session

Knorex has been invited to participate in the Infocomm Development Authority (iDA)'s organized annual event on "ELITe+ Meet-The-Mentor Session" where we will be interacting with a total of 97 top students hailing from the top local universities: NUS, NTU and SMU to identify mentorship and internship opportunities.

The Enhanced Learning in Information Technology Plus (ELITe+) is a talent development programme that aims to develop "industry-ready" infocomm graduates. The event details are as follows:

Knorex Co-Sponsors the InCoB's ISCB-Asia Joint Bioinformatics Conference

The InCoB/ISCB-Asia Joint Conference 2011 is jointly hosted by the Asia-Pacific Bioinformatics Network (APBioNet) and International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) as a platform to bring together experts and budding bioinformaticians to discuss and exchange ideas and thoughts on the development of bioinformatics in the Asia Pacific region. In addition, the conference is also organized in collaboration with the International Immunomics Society (IIMMS) and the Malaysian Society of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (MaSBiC).

The International Conference on Bioinformatics (InCoB) which began in 2002, has since grown to become one of the largest bioinformatics conferences in the Asia-Pacific region.

Keynote Speaker at the Semantic Applied Technologies on Biomedical Informatics (SATBI 2011)

Dr. Chris Baker, Chief Science Officer of Knorex, has been invited as the keynote speaker to present his work on "Deployments of SADI Semantic Web Services in Genomics, Lipidomics, Toxicology and Healthcare" at the Semantic Applied Technologies on Biomedical Informatics (SATBI 2011). Presenting at the Highlights Track of the 19th Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB 2011)

Dr. Chris Baker, Chief Science Officer of Knorex, will be presenting his team's work on "Mutation Impact Mining using SADI Semantic Web Services" at the Highlights Track of the 19thISMB 2011. The international conference is the world's largest bioinformatics/computational biology conference, and it provides a multidisciplinary forum for disseminating the latest developments in bioinformatics/computational biology. The annual conference will be held from 17 to 19 July 2011 at Vienna, Austria.

Invited Judge for the Elsevier/Tetherless World Health and Life Sciences Hackathon

Dr. Chris Baker, Chief Science Officer of Knorex, has been invited as one of the distinguished judges for the Elsevier/Tetherless World Health and Life Sciences Hackathon. The 24-hour Health and Life Sciences Semantic Web Hackathon will be held on 27 till 28 June 2011 on the campus of the Rensselaer Technology Park in Troy, NY.

In this competition, participants will develop apps using linked data made available by TWC and other sources, web APIs from Elsevier SciVerse, and visualization and other resources from around the Web.

Knorex Supports ASEC to Promote Entrepreneurship Amongst the Youth

Knorex will be participating and supporting the Asian Science Enterprise Challenge (ASEC) 2011 to encourage entrepreneurial activities among the youth. Youth ranging from 16 to 19 years old who is enrolled in a locally (Singapore) recognized school e.g Polytechnics, Junior Colleges, IB Course, International Schools, etc. The students shall form teams and compete using their creativity to come up with innovative design within 24 hours from the time a challenge is issued.

Previous event included participants hailing from Indonesia, Japan, Korea and Singapore participating in the challenge. The ASEC winners will have the opportunity to represent Singapore in the final Asian Challenge and also enter the prestigious Global Enterprise Challenge 2011.

The event shall be held on the 28th and 29th May 2011 at the Science Center Singapore.

UPDATES: Team Knorex (mentored by Knorex member) with their "Ez-Walk" invention won the local round and will be representing Singapore at the Global Enterprise Challenge (GEC) in June 2011. Ez-Walk is also the regional 1st runner up. Ez-Walk is a light-weight, spring-loaded walking stick made within a low-budget. It aims to aid the elderly and disabled in their mobility particularly when they are sitting or standing up. Videos from other groups is viewable at YouTube.
